Baby steps

This week I've been cleaning and organizing Janie's room. We took three bags of baby stuff to a local consignment store and dropped off some of the nicer toys with a friend whose 8-month-old will thoroughly enjoy them.

My baby isn't a baby any more. Sigh. It was hard to let go of all those small baby things - cute little shoes and stuffed animals. But at the same time, I'm so proud of my girl. She amazes me everyday with all of the cool new things she can do and say and understand. Just yesterday she was trying to imitate the chimney sweeper dance from Mary Poppins - utterly cute!

So I'll be sad for a few minutes, remembering all of baby steps that brought us to today. But then I'll crank up the music so we can have a dance party - and look forward to the big new toddler steps that we'll get to enjoy tomorrow.

That is so hard to do, pack up the baby things! I try to console myself with the thoughts of other super-cute things my kids will now wear. It helps, a little. I have kept a few too-cute things but the rest I've sold or gotten rid of. Ryan calls me Ebayin' Mama! That name has already been taken on Ebay so I'll just have to keep my current one. : )
